With unemployment for women in Jordan nearly 33% in urban areas and higher in rural areas, the Iraq Al-Amir Women’s Cooperative has made a difference helping women become financially independent and improve their standard of living in addition to preserving their local heritage and crafts.

The cooperative has provided training for more than 150 women from all villages of Wadi Seer on a variety of handicrafts, and has created a number of job opportunities. The cooperative is managed by women as well.
