Near the site of a Neanderthal settlement of Wildkirchli is the Berggasthaus Aescher-Wildkirchli, built into the cliff face of the Appenzeller mountains . It no longer offers overnight accommodations, but still available for meal service when open in the summer and early fall months, and is accessible by cable car.
