Karen's Story
I was born and raised in Southern California. I did not get very far since I live about 10 miles from where I grew up. Psychologically speaking, this might be why I got into the travel business, to see the world.
Growing up, family vacations centered around camping and outdoor activities. My first plane ride wasn’t until I was 14 years old, to Sacramento to visit my grandparents. Somewhere along the way, I decided I wanted to go on an African safari. Since this was something I did not feel I would be able to accomplish easily on my own, becoming a travel agent sounded like a dream job. My passion for Africa has allowed me to help design trips for travelers in East and South Africa as well as create custom journeys for alumni groups.
My most memorable experiences are the things that are unexpected. Besides the always entertaining and enthralling behavior of African animals, the unexpected for me includes seeing the sunrise over mystic Machu Picchu, the contrast of life along the Nile River, the fall colors on the Denali landscape, or the harsh life in a South African township. As a travel agent, I love taking your travel desires and creating a memorable experience by planning a trip that flows smoothly and adding those special ooh-aah moments.
