A Fresh Look at Four Seasons Aviara
While it still has lovely amenities and great service, Four Seasons Aviara looks a bit tired and dated, like an aging pop star, and in need of makeover. Wear-stained areas in carpeting outside elevators and in high traffic areas in the room I had left a negative impression. Scary bad sisal carpets are in the bathroom, which otherwise was spacious with 2 sinks and separate tub and walk-in shower with a very good Grohe shower head. The bed and bedding was very cushy and comfy, definitely up to Four Seasons standards. I don’t think I’d feel safe putting real 5-star clients there.
However, the highly regarded steak house, Argyle, did live up to its reputation, with excellent food and a great wine list–the best lamb chops I’ve had since visiting the Lake District of England.
The hotel is in a very lovely setting and still has a lot going for it, especially for families who want a condo accommodations as they have plenty of those to let. Separate kid-friendly pool. They even have a surf concierge. I was, however, a bit put-off by the large timeshare sales office just off the main lobby area.
