Cancun’s Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach
I was very pleasantly surprised by this the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach, which is an all-suite family resort at the tip of Cancun (Punta Cancun), where the Caribbean Ocean merges with the much calmer waters from Bahia de Mujeres.
There is a very nice beach on the Bay Side. The beach stretch along the Caribbean Ocean is very narrow due to the hurricane a few years ago. The beach will get wider during the summer months.
The hotel has two towers with a total of 602 well-sized suites (Presidential Suites, Master Suites and Junior Suites, the lowest room category). All are ocean view with balcony on 11 floors. All suites feature cordless phones with voicemail, 27-inch TV, CD player, coffeemaker, safe and internet for an additional charge.
The property offers 5 restaurants, including fine dining as well as pool side dining with palapa roof and ocean view, and was very good and delicious food. There are also 4 bars, Kids Club, large pool area in a lagoon style (incl. infinity pool and swim up bar), Fitness Center, Spa and Grand Club (Concierge Level).
The hotel is undergoing renovations and the west tower is currently closed. The closure does not affect the guests in terms of noise or accommodation, since the other tower is fully functional. However, the Presidential Suite of the currently open tower functions as the Club Lounge for the hotel’s Grand Club, which offers privacy and nice amenities for guests throughout the day. (Be aware that for walking impaired or less mobile people it is basically impossible to get to the Presidential Suite or the Grand Club Floor, since there are no elevators taking you up to the 11th floor and there is no definite plan to have an elevator built even after renovations are completed.
Once the West Tower will be finished the East Tower will be closed for renovations. The room renovation is scheduled to be finished in June 2009, after which the suites will have an even more contemporary and warmer atmosphere.
The hotel is building a whole new spa, which is supposed to be finished by 2010.
This is a very nice place to stay at for your Mexico vacation, and once renovations will have been completed an even better place!
