Club Med Cancun – A Perfect Family Getaway
It is not news new parents are often hesitant to travel with their small children as it can seem like an insurmountable challenge…
I have been a frequent traveler all my life, and started traveling around the world with my little one as soon as he was 5 weeks old. It is all about finding the right places to travel to, to make you and your kids comfortable to enjoy a relaxing vacation!
We just had the ultimate pleasure to enjoy a stay at the Club Med Cancun, which is perfect for families!
After a 5-hour flight, we were conveniently picked up by the resort’s shuttle (small fee applied) and after the 15-minute ride to the resort, a warm, personalized welcome awaited us once we arrived. We were guided to our room and, along the way, the resort’s layout was described to us.
Our Deluxe Ocean View Room was lovely. To our surprise the “Deluxe Baby Welcome” included a stroller, a baby bathtub, a crib and a bottle warmer, which was very thoughtful! The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and we had a small living area with a pull-out couch and a balcony, with a view of the white sandy beach and the turquoise water.
The resort is about to open up a new complex with more rooms in July, as well as the new petit club for kids age 2 and up, with a large activity space and two pools. There is no fee for the mini club (age 4-10), but there will be a fee for petit club (age 2-3).
In addition to their Club Rooms and Deluxe Rooms, Club Med Cancun also offers Suites in their 5 Trident Space in the Jade Building, with special concierge service, and it’s own pool, bar and spa. Definitely recommended for guests that seek a little bit more privacy.
Club Med Cancun has three restaurants – the main restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Besides the general buffet they offer a daily “baby dish,” as well as milk and pureed food in a glass for babies. The La Estancia restaurant offers late breakfast, late lunch and snacks, and turns into a Steak House a la carte for dinner (reservations required). My favorite dining spot was Las Cazuelas, the Mexican restaurant, which offers buffet lunch and dinner a la carte (reservations required). The lobster here was delicious!
Club Med Cancun offers a variety of included activities, including snorkeling, kayaking, water skiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, sailing, flying trapeze, etc., so there is lots to do! There is a charge for scuba diving.
You can work out at the fitness center, or enjoy a relaxing spa treatment (additional charge).
With its stunning white sand beach and crystal clear turquoise water, it is a perfect spot for a family getaway! I would go back any time!
But my next Club Med trip will be to Ixtapa, another perfect getaway, especially for travelers from the west coast, as it’s only a couple of hours flying time away!
