Club Med Sandpiper Review With a 4-Tear-Old
My last trip was to Club Med Sandpiper Bay, in Pt. St. Lucie, Florida. I flew into Ft. Lauderdale on Virgin America’s non-stop flight. After renting a car, my 4-yr old nephew and I drove the 2 hours north to West Palm Beach. The drive was actually very nice and uneventful.
The “village,” as Club Med refers to its resorts, is located in a residential area of Port St. Lucie and right on the river. Among the all-inclusive family vacation resorts in North America, Club Med Sandpiper is the only one in the United States. Our recently renovated room was spacious and quite comfortable, with a lovely bay/garden view!
The main “Marketplace” buffet restaurant was outstanding. Numerous food stations with so much variety. Each night was themed. I most enjoyed “seafood” night, with all-you-can-eat cracked crab! Beer, wine and soft drinks are all included at every meal.
I loved the kids food bar and their private eating area: The kids participating in the Mini Club had their own “space” in the restaurant!
My nephew was in the Mini-Club and he had so much fun. The best was “painting”. The canvas’ were their bodies!
It was priceless to see them painting each other and the Club Med GO’s (their staff)! The Mini-Club has a private dedicated “waterpark” with slides, water toys and shallow pool depth just for them!
I loved the adult lap pool. It is located next to the kids club area, so parents and guardians can relax and also know they are not far if their child needs them. A second adult pool was very secluded, right on the river’s edge. Very quiet and a great place to decompress!
For sports vacations, and especially for golf and tennis, this is the place!! If you are advanced in either sport, you have lots of options for enhancing your game with pros. Quite impressive tennis courts and golf course.
It was very interesting to see the kids and adults fly on the trapeze! The little kids who did not want to “fly” could jump on the trampoline.
Evening activities were fun to watch and/or participate in. The staff really try to outdo themselves each night. Lot’s of hidden talents.
Our return back was a bit uncertain as Hurricane Sandy was bearing down on the Eastern seaboard, however we were lucky as she skimmed the Florida coast. It was rainy driving back, but the sun did show up as we returned the car at Ft. Lauderdale airport.
Club Med Sandpiper is a very interesting, relaxing and fun time, and provides a great family vacation experience!
