Four Seasons Resort, Vail Colorado
I recently returned from a three day extravagant vacation in Vail, Colorado at the Four Seasons Resort and Spa located at the base of Vail Mountain.
Everything about this resort is first class, and I would not hesitate to send anybody with discerning taste to this hotel.
First of all, the hotel is gorgeous…it is built with stone and there are fireplaces everywhere you turn, including in every room, the bar, the outdoor pool, the co-ed area of the spa, etc….
The basic room includes a beautiful view, a fireplace, comfortable beds, large bathroom with bath tub and shower, fancy amenities, a Nespresso Coffee Maker, large flat screen tv, multiple telephones, a writing desk and a balcony.
They also have suites and a Residence side of the property where guests can stay in a one- to five- bedroom apartment with state-of-the-art kitchen, dining and living room.
The spa is amazing. They have three kinds of infused waters to choose from: cucumber, orange and lemon along with an assortment of teas. I experienced a wonderful deep tissue massage. There are separate facilities for women and men to use the jacuzzi, cold plunge, steam room and sauna, as well as a comfortable co-ed relaxing room, with a fireplace, of course. One of my favorite things was the cold lavender wash cloths that are available to use after using the facilities.
Outside there is a large heated salt water pool that stays about 90 degrees in winter, as well as two outdoor hot tubs and a very large fireplace area where they serve you hot chocolate and brownies after skiing. The deck of the pool can be heated in the winter, and the most amazing part is they have heated towels and bathrobes outdoors for you to use after you get out of the water.
The food at the resort is five star. FLAME restaurant is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We ate breakfast there each morning and it was delicious. Because of our preferred relationship with Four Seasons, guests we book enjoy complimentary breakfast, which is at least a $50 value. At night, FLAME is a steakhouse and I highly recommend the filet mignon. They have several homemade sauces to use with the meats. The desserts at the resort are all homemade and I recommend the Snickers and the dark chocolate soufflé with homemade mint chocolate chip ice-cream.
The Fireside bar serves casual food, and was a perfect location for playing cards at night or watching TV on one of the many flat screen TV’s.
Skiing is made simple at this resort. The Ski Concierge will load your equipment into your car or have it waiting for you at the mountain so you can just walk over or take a shuttle. Also, the ski rental shop is right on property with brand new equipment which makes renting very convenient.
On this trip the snow was better at Beaver Creek than Vail, so we were offered to use a Mercedes SUV from the hotel to go there and ski. This is another amazing service offered by the hotel.
Four Seasons and Mercedes Benz have teamed up to provide these cars to guests at no charge. If you want to go anywhere in the Village within two miles, the bellman will drop you off and pick you up…but if you want to go further, the cars are available at no charge to use. We used the Mercedes to go to Beaver Creek and again the following day to go on our snow mobile tour.
Parking at the hotel is $40.00 a day, so you might want to take a shuttle from the Denver airport to the resort and then take advantage of this wonderful service.
Besides the on-property ski rentals, there is also a business center where one can use computers for 30 minutes for free, after which there is a charge. There is a teen recreation center with a pool table, X-box games and computers, and a kids club for younger children where arts and crafts and other activities are provided All rooms come with complimentary wi fi.
We went on snowmobile tour that we can arrange for our clients. The service was amazing and the views are gorgeous. They have state-of-the-art equipment and different tours for all different levels of snow mobile riders. Just a warning, you will get muddy during the first part of the tour, but they do have clothes and boots you can use. They also provide helmets to everybody and great instruction.
The Four Season Resort and Spa in Vail is pure heaven. If you are planning a ski trip or summer trip to Colorado, I highly recommend Vail and this hotel.
