Intercontinental Viti Levu, Fiji — Part 6
After arriving back on the main island of Viti Levu, Fiji, we traveled by private transfer south along the coast to the InterContinental Golf Resort and Spa.
The InterContinental Fiji is a large modern hotel with beautiful manicured lawns and tropical foliage.
This is a very busy hotel with a lot of open space and beautiful natural setting. Fresh tropical breezes flow through the lobby to guide you to the swimming pools. There is a pool just for kids, and a separate infinity pool for adult guests. The infinity pool ends at the beach, where you can step out onto the sand and walk a short distance to swim in the bay. Of course, this happens to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
The hotel was constructed with magnificent dark woods and has well-appointed rooms. Each has an outdoor patio with bathtub for two. This is an ideal setting for a romantic evening to watch the sunset over the horizon. A stay would not be complete without a visit to the spa. To say we enjoyed the spa treatment would be an understatement. We were given robes upon entering the relaxation room, the atmosphere set with scents of lemongrass and soft music.
We enjoyed a fantastic massage and then some leisure time, sipping icy fruit beverages. The incredible massage just happens to be an added amenity when booking your stay at the Intercontinental through TravelStore!
Many of the other guests commented on the fabulous golf, repeatedly using the phrase “a golfer’s paradise.” They described an unbelievable course with ocean views in the backdrop. It was interesting listening to grown men describing their favorite playground. As for the ladies, we relived our spa treatments, our kind of paradise.
As the evening approached, we sat in the lounge and listened to the local trio welcoming the sunset. There was the traditional torch lighting ceremony, a fabulous dinner and the Fijian show with the ceremonial fire dance. It was perfection. A beautiful tropical setting, with the most scrumptious fresh food, prepared by a talented chef, and great people that are so proud to share their homeland. I agree with the golfers, this was paradise. (continued)
