Mexico & the Sea of Cortez
I had the honor of escorting a group to Mexico & the Sea of Cortez with Princess Cruises. Our group was comprised of many of your Ventura County neighbors who reveled in the door to door service, the option of not having to deal with their luggage and the hand-holding aspects that our company offers. They also like the convenience of sailing out of San Pedro, without having to fly to their embarkation port. The Sapphire Princess awaited us and the staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming. The accommodations were comfortable and the dining options that were offered were unbelievable. You could never go hungry on this vessel!
Every day one could stand on their balcony or out on the open deck and watch the whales and dolphins cavort (sometimes I felt like they were putting on a show for us).
We were greeted in each port by a Mariachi group consisting of musicians and dancers in their bright colorful costumes. There was always a group of stalls awaiting us with a choice of various souvenirs from this colorful country. As always, in these enclaves, haggling was part of the shopping fun. Each beach in every port surpassed the last with beauty and cleanliness. My favorite port was Loreto, which exudes the charm of old Mexico. (I kept on looking for Pancho Villa to come riding around the corner.)
The Sapphire Princess offered us comfortable accommodations, a friendly helpful staff and efficiency in their operation. I really enjoyed the “Movies Under the Stars” presentations. Their instructors and speakers were most informative. The shore excursions were plentiful and extremely thorough. The recreational facilities on the ship were plentiful and they even offer a secluded area (adult privacy, no children allowed) for a small surcharge.
Our group really enjoyed this 10 day voyage of Mariachis and Margaritas…………….”OLE”!
