Moorea Trip Review
The Hilton Moorea is nothing but a dream. I flew direct from LAX to Papeete to start my Tahiti vacation on Air Tahiti Nui: not a bad airline, though they can improve their food.
Upon our arrival, instead of having to wait outside in the heat and humidity and long customs line, we were escorted to the airport’s air-conditioned VIP lounge where there were snacks and cold bottles of water awaiting us, along with a private Polynesian dance show to enjoy. Now that’s a warm welcome!
Before we knew it, our luggage arrived and we were transported to Le Meridien Tahiti, where we stayed the first two nights.
Le Meridien Tahiti was a lovely hotel located on the beach. The rooms were beautiful and cozy and the service was great; however, no one was too fond of the food. After a nice night’s sleep, we awoke, had breakfast and headed out to tour Tahiti.
Due to inclement weather, our plans to see the surf and explore some caves got cancelled. Nevertheless, we had an eventful day.
We started off by going to a museum, took a coastal drive, and then visited the manufacturers of Monoi oil. This was a fun stop: we saw how Monoi oil is made and then we all got to make our own bottle. After tapping into our creativity, we were then taken to an unbelievably beautiful garden to explore and enjoy its waterfalls. We were all very taken by the beauty of this garden.
The next morning we transferred to the ferry to Moorea. Moorea is such a gorgeous island, with much beautiful, lush green scenery surrounded by the draw-dropping shades of blue of the ocean.
Once we arrived at the Hilton Moorea, we were greeted by their most amazing staff with a refreshing drink and then we were lei’d with tiare flowers, the fragrant flowers of Tahiti. Our inspection of the resort proved that all of the rooms are beautiful, no matter if you have an overwater bungalow or a room with a plunge pool> We enjoyed a beautiful lunch at their Grill and Bar right on the beach.
The view is extraordinary and the food was BEYOND amazing, and the service even better. I came on this trip four months pregnant, and the service provided to cater to my dietary needs was impeccable. The staff ALWAYS made sure I had options and did not make me feel uncomfortable by making things slightly difficult due to my dietary needs.
I felt so well taken care of by the staff at the Hilton Moorea, it made all my fears go away right from the start. After a mouth-watering meal, we checked into our rooms.
I was one of the lucky ladies who got to stay in an over-water bungalow. The room was everything you could wish for. The panoramic view looking out over the ocean was breathtaking.
The beds were extremely comfortable, the bathroom was gorgeous with a beautiful shower and bathtub, the sitting area had a glass window in the floor so you can look down into the water, and the balcony provided access down to the water for easy access for a nice swim at any time.
After our check in, the group enjoyed a jet-ski excursion. Unfortunately, I was not able to go, but I got to take pictures of them and hear of their adventures jet skiing next to a group of dolphins. They said it was such an amazing experience.
Most of us enjoyed the beach, kayaking, paddle boarding, and snorkeling since the hotel provided all of that. This is such a beautiful area to enjoy water-based activities: the water is so clear and the fish so beautiful, I had never seen anything like it. I have been to Hawaii and seen all of their tropical fish, which I assumed I would see here; however, they were more beautiful than I even imagined.
Later that night we had dinner with the General Manager, Karine Peyras, who was such amazing company. And once again the food and service was above and beyond.
The next day, after a wonderful breakfast, we went on a lagoon tour where we got to snorkel with baby shark and sting rays. This experience was so incredible, and I highly recommend this special experience. After snorkeling, we enjoyed lunch on a nearby motu.
On our last full day in Moorea, we began the day with an ATV tour. Once again, they recommended I do not partake on this excursion due to all of the off-roading. I stayed back and hung with some of the staff at the beach who were beyond friendly and accommodating until the group got back from their tours.
On a leisurely afternoon, some people went back to their rooms and relaxed, some adventured with their snorkel gear, kayak and paddle boards, and others got massages. Everyone who got massages just raved about their spa, highly recommending it.
That evening we had a crepes making class at the Toatea Creperie and Bar restaurant located out on the dock. This was such a fun evening where we learned how to make crepes. Our host was so fun and kept us all laughing the entire time. After making the crepes, we got to sit and order a meal from this restaurant to wrap up the evening!
Everyone was sad to leave the next day: The staff became like family, the resort became like a home.
Everyone who worked here was nothing but amazing and so beyond accommodating. No one could stop talking about how amazing the food was. And last, no one wanted to leave the beautiful sunrises and sunsets that the Hilton Moorea was able to provide us.
We were surrounded by so much beauty at this hotel, I can’t wait to get back and share it with my clients.
