Our Honeymoon Team in Bora Bora – Part 3

Our plane landed on an island, known as a ‘motu’. This motu had the common airport, as it would not be feasible for each island to have its own airport.

From the motu, a boat was used to get to our hotel, the Hilton Bora Bora Nui. We were welcomed by the hotel staff and taken on a tour of the hotel. The overwater bungalows were very large and have huge bathtubs.

The showers could have fit 10 people! There are dual sinks and, to the side, a separate bathroom, with a door. Each bungalow has two TV’s and separate living room area. The room has dark woods and a very large desk.

The hotel has a business center, which has one free computer and three others that may be used for a charge, along with a fax and a printer. There are two wonderful restaurants and we ate at both.

The casual restaurant is called the Tamure Grill and has a sand floor. The other is a formal dining venue, where we enjoyed dining with Sebastien Maingourd, the General Manager.

Our Bora Bora experience included a really fun excursion, an open top, four-by-four adventure into the mountains. The vehicles were able to traverse the steep dirt roads for a crazy off-road ride. At the top of the mountain we stopped for a photo shoot and enjoyed some fresh pineapple and coconut. We ended the tour with a stop at Bloody Mary’s bar, where we enjoyed a locally brewed ice cold beer, while our tour guide shared stories about the islands.

The next day we went to the Bora Bora Pearl, a lovely hotel with a wonderful spa. There is also a place for weddings on the property. The garden view rooms have a private fenced yard with a plunge pool.

The beach bungalows have an outside shower and opens up to the beach. The lobby bar is the gathering place and guests seemed to be having a great time. We were served a great meal and then headed back to our hotel for some free time.

We all went into the water and had some relaxation before getting ready for dinner at the Black Rock restaurant. We enjoyed our time together as we all shared our stories and impressions.

In morning we boarded a boat to Motu Tapu for some snorkeling. They had a fantastic lunch, which was served in the water. The food was served buffet style but your table and chairs actually allowed you to sit in the water as you ate. Your floor was the sandy bottom of the beach.

This was one of the highlights for me, as everyone bonded over an unbelievable lunch experience. This private island can be set up for a fabulous candlelight dinner for a honeymoon couple for about $600.00.

It was time to say goodbye to the islands and prepare for the journey home. Our time during our Bora Bora vacation had been fleeting yet extremely eventful.
