Park Hyatt Aviara Resort – A Close to Home Getaway
For a weekend getaway I had a chance to stay at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, California. The resort sits on the natural Batiquitos Lagoon, which is one of the few tidal wetlands in Southern California. My panoramic view room overlooked the lagoon as well as the Aviara golf course. When it wasn’t raining, I was able to sit on my balcony and watch the birds fly over the lagoon and players on the 18 hole Arnold Palmer-designed golf course. The room is spacious with a desk, sitting area, desk and a large bathroom with separate shower and soaking tub and double sinks.
Besides golf there are a variety of other activities to enjoy here, such as swimming pools, tennis, fitness center and spa. Since the weather wasn’t conducive to spending a lot of time outdoors, I went to the spa and had a wonderful, relaxing massage. The spa has an indoor solarium lounge, whirlpool, sauna & steam room. While sipping herbal tea in the solarium I spoke to a group of women who were enjoying a girlfriend’s getaway that included the spa and shopping at the nearby outlet mall.
When it is time to dine, the Park Hyatt offers a variety of venues with something for everyone. For casual dining, and my favorite, is the California Bistro serving farm to table cuisine using local Southern California ingredients. If you happen to be lounging by the pool you can also enjoy a laid back lunch from the Ocean Pool & Bar Grill. For dinner there is Vivace, serving creative Italian cuisine, or Argyle Steakhouse overlooking the 18th hole of the Aviara Golf Course. And don’t forget room service if you do not want to leave your room.
If your getaway happens to include children, there is Aviara Kids Academy by Camp Hyatt available. A short drive away are Legoland, San Diego Safari Park and SeaWorld to name a few family friendly places in the area.
Whatever your reason for getting away, I don’t think you could go wrong at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort & Spa. Don’t forget about TravelStore’s added amenities!
