Romance and Relaxation in Mexico

Hey there, fellow wanderlust souls! Today, I’m thrilled to take you on an enchanting journey to the captivating city of Merida, Mexico. Let me share with you the highlights of my recent two-night escapade to this historical gem in October 2022.

Upon landing in Merida, my fiancé and I embarked on a short trip filled with delightful  surprises and cherished memories. Our luxurious stay at the Hacienda Xcanatun was a true retreat for the senses. Nestled just outside of town, a scenic 30-minute drive led us to this hidden oasis. The moment we stepped foot onto the property, we were spellbound by its beauty and charm. The Hacienda’s splendid architecture, impeccable service, and delectable cuisine made our stay truly unforgettable.

Speaking of cuisine, we enjoyed a romantic dinner at the renowned rooftop restaurant, Picheta, with a mesmerizing view of the main square. The restaurant specialized in Mexican cuisine, offering a delightful array of small dishes and tapas that tantalized our taste buds. It was the perfect setting for us to savor the moment as we looked forward to our upcoming wedding, just a few weeks away.

Merida’s rich history came to life during our city tour, where we explored the main historical buildings and immersed ourselves in the vibrant local culture. The journey culminated with a scenic drive to Progresso Beach, an hour away from the city. The picturesque view at the beach was breathtaking, and the serene atmosphere allowed us to unwind and relax.

Back at the Hacienda, we indulged in the pleasure of their inviting pools and savored the mouthwatering culinary offerings. The hotel’s seclusion from the city provided us with a sense of tranquility, perfect for decompressing ourselves from the stresses of daily life.

For those considering a visit to Merida, fret not about transportation. You can easily arrange for a transfer or opt for a reasonably priced taxi to take you to and from the hotel. The convenience of having a tour guide pick you up from the hotel added an extra layer of comfort, ensuring that we made the most of our time in this mesmerizing city.

Our short but magical trip to Merida, Mexico, exceeded all expectations. From the stunning Hacienda Xcanatun to the delightful dinner at Picheta and the exploration of Merida’s captivating history, every moment was filled with joy and wonder.
