San Diego Getaway
Late May is a wonderful time to visit San Diego!
Combining a bit of work and pleasure made for a fantastic weekend in this most scenic of California towns!
Our drive from the South Bay area of Los Angeles to San Diego
was only 1 ½ hours
as we left after the
peak
rush hour traffic time so our drive time.
The Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego can be seen for miles when driving and flying into the city. The 2 tall towers overlook either the city, the bay or, if you are lucky enough to stay in a corner room, a view of both!
The pool deck is located on a high floor in order to see the beautiful bay!
At night we enjoyed sitting by the fire pits admiring the twinkling lights of the bay.
It is fascinating to see San Diego Bay during the day and night from the 17th floor, as numerous navy vessels, barges, pleasure boats and lots of birds float by.
The SS Midway is also in view and dwarfs anything around it. She is so grand looking docked in the harbor. A tour of the Midway is highly recommended and you should allow a ½ day to tour it.
Another highlight is the Patriot Jetboat tour of the bay. Going up to 50 miles per hour, making 180-degree turns and twists offers a thrilling ride!!
Be prepared to get a little wet, but that is just part of the fun!
The Manchester Grand Hyatt is centrally located in San Diego just within a 10-minute walk to the famous GasLamp District where you will find a plethora of restaurants, shops and clubs.
In addition, Petco Park, the Padres baseball stadium is just a few more blocks over.
If you happen to be attending an event at the San Diego Convention Center; that, too, is only 10 minutes via walking.
San Diego’s weather is nearly perfect year round and for a nice getaway from Los Angeles, you can bet you will have a most relaxing and fun experience!
