Secrets Cabo San Lucas Review
I travelled to Cabo San Lucas in November, 2014, about a month or so after Hurricane Odile. We stayed at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos, which had just opened two days before we arrived. I was expecting Cabo San Lucas to be in bad shape from the hurricane, but it wasn’t at all. The roads were clear, the airport was built back up and our resort was amazing. They were still working on the resort grounds, but mostly just replanting.
Upon arrival at Cabo airport, we were picked up by our private car company. Their service was remarkable, the entire fleet was brand-new SUV vehicles, offering us plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy our short 15-minute ride to our resort. When we arrived, we were greeted with cold towels & a chilled glass of champagne, definitely my kind of welcome!! They informed us we were upgraded and needed to check in at the preferred desk! They loaded our luggage into a golf cart and off we went.
We arrived at the preferred club desk/lounge and were greeted with smiling, happy, energetic faces. The check in was seamless and in less than five minutes we were taken to our room, which was a very short walk. Our room was amazing, so much more than I expected. It was very large, with a sunk-in jacuzzi bath tub, separate shower, two separate vanity sinks, a huge king bed and the best part was the swim-out balcony. Our private balcony lead right into a private swimming pool that was connected to four other suites. The unexpected perk was the resort was only 20% full because of the hurricane, so nobody had the rooms next to us.
This resort is very large, lots of walking and stairs to access the restaurants, bars & lounges. They do offer golf carts and they will take you wherever you need to go. We were located in building 5, close to everything. Buildings 1, 2, 7 & 8 are pretty far from everything. I highly recommend requesting Buildings 4, 5 or 6.
Unfortunately their beach was pretty much ruined due to the hurricane. We had to climb down a very steep staircase. It was very difficult, so we only visited the beach once, and it wasn’t swimmable due to riptides.
This is definitely a 4½ star resort for adults, 18 years and older. Their main pool is one of the largest and best resort pools I have ever seen. It offers a swim-up bar as well as sitting areas within the pool. This pool was very active with music, water aerobics, water volleyball and basketball. The service was always impeccable, lots of waiters/waitress around the pool area coming around with ice cream, cold towels, sandwiches, and fruit. They also have a second pool which was the quiet pool, much smaller and no daily activities.
Food at the resort was amazing, with a buffet as well as a la carte restaurant for breakfast & lunch. For dinner there are a lot of choices: Italian, Mexican, Seafood or Asian inspired restaurants. The Asian was my personal favorite. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a superior all-inclusive resort.
