Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana – All-Inclusive Romance and Luxury
I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana. It is a beautiful all-inclusive, adults only property.
The resort is highlighted by a huge wrap around pool with rooms all along the sides, a feature that I just loved!
We were staying in room 4374 and we were able to see both the ocean and the pool from our balcony – very nice!
One of the first compliments I would make is that the service was absolutely excellent everywhere within the Secrets resort. As a frequent traveler, this is one of the areas that I often find lacking in resorts, but Secrets Royal Beach definitely went above and beyond at every opportunity.
When you’re looking for a relaxing, romantic getaway, that level of service can make all the difference in the world.
The Resort is connected to the Now Larimar property next door, and the all-inclusive price allows you to dine at any restaurant at either resort, which means you have a very wide variety of options and really wouldn’t have to dine at the same restaurant more than once during a week if you didn’t want to.
I definitely had my favorites among the restaurants. I was not a huge fan of Oceana, Riviera Buffet or the Grill on the Beach, however I absolutely loved the Hibachi Grill at Spice and the Seaside Grill at Secrets. The breakfast they serve at the Riviera is excellent however, and I would definitely recommend it. Room service is also very good and available 24 hours – so we actually had breakfast delivered most mornings – another very nice touch for a romantic resort like this.
The beach at the resort is beautiful. It offers lots of water sports right in front of the resort including banana boats, parasailing, and other non-motorized sports including sail boats, wind surfers, paddle boats, kayaks, etc.
We decided to indulge and try out the spa…it is excellent. We did the hydration circuit first which consists of a warm shower, sauna, steam room, cold bucket shower, freezing plunge pool, circulation walk on rocks, massage waterfalls in pool, including one for your feet, and then a hot jacuzzi with strategically placed jets for feet, legs and back. Talk about relaxing! There is a spa valet who times everything for you and brings you chlorophyll water, which is great for your digestion (and a nice touch after some delicious meals). Finally, we enjoyed a side by side couples massage which was soothing and heavenly.
The resort was largely filled with honeymoon couples. We received a lovely bottle of champagne upon arrival, and they give you a form to return to the concierge to arrange your “romantic breakfast in bed.” This consists of a nice breakfast with champagne for mimosas.
You can also schedule a turndown service one night, which includes rose petals on your bed as well as having them fill your outdoor jacuzzi with bubbles and rose petals.
The entertainment team is great…. always singing, dancing, playing games at pool and leading the entertainment at night. Two guys on the team particularly stood out…. Chevron and Milky Way.
They also offer entertainment in the main plaza each night which creates a beautiful and romantic ambiance.
On Thursday they had a foam party in the pool which had a lot of participation – we loved it – great fun! They got a giant foam machine out and filled the pool making it somewhat like a giant bubble bath.
It turned into a huge party…. everybody drinking and having fun.
It turned out that the pool was a great location for socializing and meeting other couples, everyone seemed to be having a great time.
To encourage people to participate in the social events, they offer participants ‘funny money’ that you can use in an auction to buy tee shirts and such.
There was also a well attended cigar presentation where they were even giving out free samples.
One of the HUGE differences that sets AMResorts, the company that owns Secrets Royal Beach, apart from other all inclusive resorts is that you don’t have to make dinner reservations. The only reservation you need is for the Hibachi at Spice, which is located in the Now Larimar, otherwise it is first come, first serve which allows you to do things at your own pace.
The General Manager, Luis Gomez, was very nice and had set up a special diner for us in the Seaside Grill.
We invited some honeymooners from Wisconsin whom we had befriended at the pool to join us and we had a lot of fun!
The employees work very, very hard and they all seem genuinely happy to be there. The ones who stood out to me were our housekeeper Ramona, Chevron and Milky Way in entertainment, Lorraine the concierge, Juan, who was our spa valet, Isidro who drove us to the airport, and all of the bartenders and waiters at the pool….lots of fun!
The buildings and the grounds were all very well maintained and they were constantly being worked on to stay that way.
There was a threat of a hurricane while we were there and we received a letter in our room with all the information about their emergency procedures. The bad weather never happened thankfully, but the hotel seemed extremely well prepared just in case.
The negatives…. All the floors in the resort are marble and very slippery when wet – so a word of caution there. It rained our first night and I slipped three times, which can be very dangerous.
I honestly wasn’t a big fan of the food in the beginning. I think part of it was because of the humid weather, so some of the bread items seemed stale and didn’t have much taste.
I can tell you that the next time I want to send a couple on a romantic vacation….I will definitely be recommending Secrets Royal Beach.
