The Brunelleschi in Florence

On my recent Italy vacation, I had the pleasure of spending a couple of nights in Florence at the Brunelleschi Hotel. This particular property is included in our Signature Hotels & Resorts Program, which provides special amenities to guests we book here.

Our flight to Italy was to Rome. and we took the train to Florence. After getting our luggage upon arrival, we went towards the train station inside the airport and took a regional train to Florence via Rome Tiburtina and arrived at our destination around 10:00pm.

A short taxi ride and we were at the hotel. The friendly staff at reception greeted us with smiles all around. We were advised of our Signature amenities included with our reservation. The night manager escorted us to our 4th floor accommodations and told us everything about the service and history (in short form) of the hotel.

We were upgraded to a deluxe room facing the city pedestrian street Calzaioli, and a bottle of prosecco with a welcome note were awaiting us (to celebrate my birthday).

Our Deluxe Room featured a king bed facing floor to ceiling windows (double paned, no noise from the outside). The bedroom and living room were somewhat separated for a little privacy and there was a TV in each area as well as free Wi Fi. A coffee/tea maker in our room was definitely a plus.

I was amazed on how well this Medieval -looking “Boutique Hotel” managed to preserve the old and incorporated the new. Favorite past time: Looking out of my window and overlooking the going on’s around and below us.

The location of the Brunelleschi is what makes it so unique. The hotel is in a restored Byzantine tower and medieval church overlooking the Florence Cathedral, in a pedestrian area surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars.

One can get to all the major attractions easily by walking. The Duomo is practically around the corner and the Uffizi and Academia within walking distance. We had pouring rain while exploring the city but it was still such a unique and pleasurable experience.

The complimentary breakfast every morning was plentiful and had something for anybody’s taste. We used our Food and Beverage Credit for a light Dinner at the Osteria Della Pagliazza, which is located on the ground floor close to the reception area and features the wonderful “Tower Bar” which is located inside the old tower, hence the name.

On our departure day the staff assisted getting us to the train station on time to start our next chapter of our trip. The Hotel Manager came out to greet us, made sure everything was as expected, and wished us a great journey ahead.

If you are planning on going to Florence any time soon, consider the Brunelleschi and don’t go without including our added hotel amenities.
