On one of my recent Europe vacations, I had the good fortune to spend a couple of nights in London, England.
I had heard a lot about the “Milestone Hotel” (in the Kensington area and part of the family-run Red Carnation brand), and since it is listed as one of our preferred Signature Hotels & Resorts with exclusive benefits for our clients, I wanted to give it a try.
The flight from Los Angeles arrived pretty much on time, and after clearing customs and picking up our luggage, our transfer was waiting for us outside Baggage Claim and swiftly transported us to the hotel. It was still early afternoon.
We were warmly greeted by Steve, the doorman, who in turn introduced us to Nik at Reception. Our check in process was seamless and quick. The hotel Butler, Pedro, escorted us to our Deluxe King Room within minutes and since we still wanted to go out and explore the surroundings, gave us a mini orientation of the hotel, and promised to go into more detail later.
The Guest Service team had placed some nice gifts in the room and we were told about all the added TravelStore Signature amenities we would receive throughout the duration of our stay.
Our Room faced Kensington Park and Gardens, which was across the Street from the hotel. The double paned Windows defused the traffic noise from the outside.
The color scheme was a soft gray in different shades, which gave a very elegant look and feel. The bathroom was spacious enough, with a tub and shower (within the tub).
Complimentary breakfast was served in their small but cozy restaurant and offering something for everyone. We used our TravelStore Food and
Beverage Credit for an afternoon treat in the beautiful appointed Conservator, where High Tea is served every afternoon.
The Milestone is one of London’s luxury boutique hotels and a 19th century architectural treasure, with only 44 deluxe guest rooms and 12 luxury suites (each different). It has such a British charm and authenticity, you feel like you are taken back to another time.
The Deputy Head Concierge, Giacomo, assisted us with making the most of our brief time in London. He recommended hidden gems in and around the hotel so we could walk to most places, including Kensington Palace. We did have him book us a ”Hop on, Hop off” bus tour for the day and it was perfect, as was the weather. We stopped off at Harrod’s on our way back and walked back to the hotel from there.
Upon our departure, the staff could not have been more helpful. The Dorman, the Butler, Concierge all said good bye with a smile and told us to come back soon. If you are going to London in the near future, please think about this wonderful property with all its added amenities.
