Visiting Hong Kong
What an interesting trip! Loved Hong Kong! I stayed at the InterContinental right on the water and it was fabulous! My room had the BEST harbor view I have ever seen! In my opinion there is nowhere else to stay in Hong Kong!
Hong Kong gives New York a real run for its money (said the ex New Yorker). The mass transit is unbelievably clean and efficient. I was amazed at the efficiency of the entire city. You take the Airport express from the airport and it takes you to the station you need to go to (depending on where you are staying) I went to the Kowloon station where you go into a taxi queue where a gentleman will advise you on what door to go to for your awaiting cab. You must experience this as it runs like clockwork. Very welcome after a 14 hour flight!
In Hong Kong you truly have not visited until you have tried the Victoria Peak Tram, which takes you up to a fantastic viewing platform in Hong Kong Island. You will go up 1,811 ft up and have the most unbelievable views of the city and harbor. Of course there are shopping opportunities everywhere you look, and the people are all very friendly. The only thing I found is that mostly everyone speaks English except for the cab drivers, so always ask at your hotel for a card with the Chinese address on it for easy navigation back to your hotel. As this was my first visit, the best thing I did in preparation for this trip was to purchase a Foder’s Guide of 25 best things to do in Hong Kong, I used it constantly and it was very helpful!
